Getting the most from your candle

in NEWS

We want you to light & enjoy our candles, so here are some steps to help you get the most from it. Taking care of your scented candle will help to ensure that it lasts for the maximum time and that the scent remains consistent..

• Trim your wick – Always trim your wick ¼ inch before lighting your candle. If the wick gets too tall, the flame will also grow too tall and leave black burn marks on your glass, this also goes for our Soy candles that do not produce black soot. This is where your wick trimmers comes in really handy. My tip: If you never invest in any other candle accessory, invest in a wick trimmer.

• Avoid drafts – It is not good to have a dancing flame, do not put burning candles near heating systems or an open window. If you see your flame dancing, it means there is a draft. You want your flame to be calm so it can evenly distribute heat which will lead to a clean and even burn.

• Make sure that when you light your candle for the first time that you allow it to burn for at least two to three hours. The wax should have melted to the very edge of the glass by this time and this full burn pool will ensure the candle burns evenly and won’t cause tunneling and wasted wax around the inside edge of the candle.

• We strongly advise that you do not burn any candle for more than two or three hours at a time. After this time, the candle gets too hot and begins to evaporate fragrance oil and burn off quicker. So 2-3 hour increments.
